ACTIVATED CARBON

 
Coconut Shell based Activated Carbon is a byproduct of Coconut and is derived by burning Coconut shells under regulated conditions.

Activated Carbon is a solid material consisting mainly of pure carbon and is the most powerful adsorbent. Its characteristic feature is the porous structure, and the resultant vast surface area, which may be as large as 1500 m2/gm., Coconut Shell based Granular Activated Carbon is widely used in the water purification process plants, due to its exceptional adsorption qualities. The benefits of using Coconut Shell based Granular Activated Carbon are low cost and higher efficiency in water treatment, such as removal of odor, color and recuperation.

The Coconut Shell based Charcoal is activated by reaction with steam at a temperature of 900oC - 1100oC, under controlled atmosphere in a rotary kiln. The reaction between steam and Charcoal takes place at the internal surface area, creating more sites for adsorption.

The temperature factor, in the process of activation is very important. Below 900oC the reaction becomes too slow, and is very uneconomical, and above 1100oC the reaction becomes diffusion controlled, and therefore takes place on the outer surface of the Charcoal resulting in loss of charcoal

Physical Characteristics of Activated Carbon:

Hardness:

Coconut shell based Activated Carbon has a special property of the most elevated hardness (more than 99%) which builds the solidness and lessens misfortune in application, taking care of and recovery.


Ash Content :

This is the inorganic, latent, nebulous and unusable part in the activated carbon. This fiery debris comes at first from the fundamental material. Bring down the slag content, the better the activated carbon. The limit of ash content allowed in this activated carbon is between 2-5%.


Moisture :

This is the measure of water bound inside the activated carbon under typical condition. The level of dampness substance permitted in the activated carbon allowed is between 3 and 6%.


pH Content :

: The pH Value of activated carbon is a measure of whether it is acidic or basic. Coconut shell based Activated Carbon typically is indicated for a pH of 9 – 11. To produce activated carbons from handpicked coconut shells to ensure that end product thus produced is of finest quality and meets the set international standards.

Packaging :

Packing is made by inner liner HDPE bags in 25kg, 50kg, 500kg, 550 and 600 Kg Jumbo bags
